Jackson State Community College is seeking a dedicated individual to join our faculty as a Full-Time Psychology Instructor. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the growth and development of our psychology program, contributing to both academic excellence and the broader college community through shared governance and committee work.
Job Summary
This is a full-time, academic-year (9 month), one-year term (renewable) appointment within the department of Social Sciences. The instructor is responsible for the planning, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. The instructor is responsible for performing assigned duties during the day and evening on any Jackson State Community College Campus.
Job Duties

<li>Teaching: Deliver high-quality instruction in psychology courses, including General Psychology, Life Span Psychology, and other courses as assigned, using innovative teaching methods to engage and inspire students.</li>
<li>Student and Course Assessment: Assess student performance through various methods and contribute to the continuous improvement of student learning outcomes in each course taught.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Program Development: Coordinate with other psychology faculty and the Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences to expand and enhance the psychology program, including curriculum development, assessment, and accreditation processes.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Student Advising: Provide academic advising and mentorship to students in the Psychology and General Studies Transfer Pathways, supporting their educational and career goals.&nbsp;</li>

Minimum Qualifications
• Master’s degree in psychology from a regionally accredited institution, or • Master’s degree in another discipline from a regionally accredited institution and at least 18 graduate semester hours in psychology
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience teaching at the college level, particularly in the community college setting. • Experience in program development and committee work in the college setting. • Demonstrated experience teaching General Psychology and Life Span Psychology. • Experience teaching courses in a variety of modalities including in-person, hybrid, virtual, and asynchronously online. • Ph.D. in psychology with 18 graduate hours in Social Work, or • Ph.D. in a related field with 18 graduate hours in Psychology.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge and/or experience using a variety of instructional delivery modes. • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population. • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in LMS management as well as Microsoft Office applications.
Pay Rate: $47,098 - $56,518 Annual salary depending on eligible experience, and will be determined by degree level, which is defined by the current compensation plan.
