Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the State where the applicant resides and must be insurable as defined in the UT System BPM 16-05-02, as applicable to the performance of essential duties and responsibilities of the position.Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:Responsible for continuous support to the program per Head Coach's daily instructions and feedback. Other duties as assigned per Athletic Director and/or Sports Administrator. Director of Operations is also expected to commit to improving the position itself while on duty by providing analytical feedback upon request how to improve and simplify information flow within the program and through it, “systems over goals” type of approach.The position provides direct budget formulation, implementation and analyzation for the program and at the direction of the head coach. Strong administrative hygiene is a must as this position must project costs, request and disperse per diem per trip and insure reconciliation for each trip with the Athletic Business Office (ABO).Active participant in all things related to team travel providing support to director by completing all relevant paperwork in timely manner per team travel agent's and UTEP ABO's instructions/deadlines. Ability to travel with basketball team to all away competitions is expected.Provides direct support to camp directors, development team supporting the Roundball Club, and acts as a liaison to facility and building maintenance director for the coaching staff. Oversees program's social media plan execution and is acting staff liaison to UTEP Athletics' Lifeskills program.Oversee managers' work schedules and student-athlete calendars. Assign duties to managers on daily basis and directly supervises them. Provides strong assistance in managing student-athlete academics, compliance logs, ABO paperwork, and various databases. Assists director in building various recruiting and alumni databases.Fully in charge of supervising and executing all team equipment orders per head coach's orders. The individual at Director of Operations position is solely responsible for program's equipment and use of the department's inventory management system. Other staff will provide support in equipment areas as directed by the head coach.Employee agrees to abide by the Code of Ethics as set forth by the University of Texas at El Paso and the University of Texas System. Complies with all State, University, and Conference/NCAA policies. Meets with key staff to identify and resolve problems.Oversee the work of architects, engineers, inspectors, and other contractors involved in capital projects. Additionally, they create and deliver informational updates and presentations to the Capital Planning Committee and other interested organizations.Responsible for recruitment, staffing, training and development, performance evaluations and employee counseling and termination.Responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring standards and procedures related to design, energy efficiency, and sustainability goals for facilities planning, as well as capital and renovation projects.Develops and implements short and long-range campus facilities plans, conceptual designs, and capital outlay (budget) requirements.Compiles and submits reports as required by management, state, local, and federal regulatory agencies.Acts as liaison between the planning and construction department, the university leadership, administration, and outside agencies for all project activities from initiation to completion of the project.Participates in various committees, professional training, industry conferences, and conventions.Ensures all construction, remodeling and design comply with applicable building codes and regulations and any special requirements of the building type (e.g., healthcare, research labs, special campus project types, etc.) or the local jurisdictions.Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems.Complies with all State and University policies and procedures. Experience with Institution of Higher Education desired.Professional Licensure:Professional architectural or engineering in Texas in good standing or related technical licensePreferred Education: Master's degree in related technical or managerial field.Preferred Experience: 15 years' experience with complex project management experience in educational facilities design and construction.
