Professor in College of Health Sciences The University of Texas at El Paso seeks a highly qualified full Professor to join its College of Health Sciences (CHS) and play a pivotal role in developing a Center for Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases. The faculty member will have the opportunity to be appointed in the Department(s) of Kinesiology, Public Health Sciences, or Social Work depending on the candidate's background and preference. Faculty hired into the rank of tenured full professor will be given the additional honorific title of Regent's Distinguished Research Professor; other RREP faculty can earn this title upon promotion to full professor with tenure. In this role, the faculty member will collaborate with current diabetes and metabolic disease researchers and lead initiatives addressing health inequities. They will play a critical role in shaping the strategic vision of the center, driving research, translation, implementation, and training efforts. The faculty member will be expected to collaborate closely with existing researchers within CHS who conduct multicultural and binational research. Chair of Pharmaceutical Sciences The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites nominations and applications for the position of CHAIR of Pharmaceutical Sciences (at Associate or Full Professor rank). The successful candidate will be a talented and trusted regional/national leader, who will cultivate and embrace excellence in research, teaching, and service in a predominantly Mexican-American community. This year-round position represents a unique opportunity for an outstanding individual to continue to strategically grow the pharmaceutical sciences team to drive innovative research in diverse disciplines while providing continued support for the integrated curriculum in a relatively new School of Pharmacy at UTEP. Associate/Full Professor in Immunology/Inflammation The Department of Biological Sciences at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications for a tenured Associate or Full Professor position in immunology, with an emphasis in systemic chronic inflammation and aging. Addressing health disparities and inequities that contribute to chronic disease development is a critical national priority, especially in Hispanic persons who suffer from extensive health disparities and often are characterized by earlier and worse chronic disease progression. UTEP is a focal point for education and biomedical research for Hispanics living on the US-Mexico border and has been intentional in supporting Hispanic Health Disparities research initiatives. UTEP is poised to become a national leader in this critical area of biomedical research by establishing an advanced health database. The successful candidate should have a strong track record of extramural funding, with significant experience with mentoring leadership, directorship, and participation in large center grant programs. Faculty hired into the rank of tenured full professor will be given the additional honorific title of Regents' Distinguished Research Professor; faculty hired into the rank of associate professor can earn this title upon promotion to full professor with tenure. The Department of Biological Sciences offers two Ph.D. tracks (Bioscience and Ecology/Evolution) and has over 100 graduate students and over 2000 majors. The department boasts multiple state-of-the-art core facilities with full-time staff and BSL3/ABSL3 and research facilities. The core facilities include those focused on mass spectrometry, genomics, tissue culture and high-throughput drug screening, confocal microscopy, bioinformatics and biostatistics. Biological sciences faculty maintain strong collaborative and programmatic ties with multiple UTEP departments, including Psychology, Pharmacy, Physics, Chemistry, and Computer Science.
